So, this is my second look for the Bonobos Men's Suits Winter Style Challenge.  I chose this look with the holiday season in mind which has snuck upon us with no "Hello". Though I live in California and we will be spending Thanksgiving in Lawn chairs poolside, this look was meant for that Holiday party you're throwing for family and friends this year. The dark dress is the perfect choice to bring in that drama, and what's a holiday party without drama? The embroidered floral design is my ode to the Shanghai darling of yesteryear. The wool asymmetrical zip blazer gives a cool and tough effect to the pretty and delicate frock underneath. Take off the jacket when indoors and you have the perfect surprisingly comfy ensemble to wow your guests or to fall asleep in after dinner. The buttons in front are perfect for coming undone after the turkey and sweet potato pie or pumpkin whatever tickles your fancy.

I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving holiday and indulges in that extra piece of pie just for me!

What I wore:
Black dress (thrifted)
Asymmetrical wool blazer (rummage sale find)
Ankle Boots (Guess by Marciano)
Gold Handbag (thrifted)

Suits You

Today was a non eventful day. The usual "normalcies" of everyday sleep, work, bills, and I try to squeeze in a bit of fun. So, this is it, my fun for the day. It's actually a great release for me to relieve some creative tension. This is what I wore this past Sunday. I spent it with my cousin playing in clothing, we shot photos, ate In 'N' Out burgers for all you West Coasters. It was all in great fun and company.

As far as what I wore, I tried super hard to be deep and go into detail on how the color of the skirt caught a sparkle in my eye and it spoke to me in a soft whisper or it chose me with a brush to my cheek as I scoured my closet. Truth is, it was just pretty. It was my first time wearing this beauty I scored it in my local second hand store. It was one of those days searching for that perfect item which would catch my eye and without any luck through my entire trek in the store, just as I was about to leave, wait...what is this? Pretty color. Moschino Couture. Six dollars. CHA-CHING! In that exact order! To top off the skirt I also debuted my super perfect lace blazer that I bought at the end of winter last year and had yet to pleasure my shoulders with its perfection.

As always, I had to throw on something a bit off beat, my perfectly worn in motorcycle ankle boots did the trick. The perfect adoRebel ensemble to waste away a brisk day.

For this post I am participating in a Winter Style Challenge with Bonobos. I chose this look as a complement to their awesome new Collection of Men's suits.I like to mix very feminine things with a bit rougher things to balance them out. Hence my strong shoulder padded blazer, which is also inspired by menswear, was chosen along with a tough ankle boot. This creates a balance of pretty and tough. My big hair also balanced out the "prettiness" hee hee. My balanced look with the Bonobos suit is the perfect match for any power couple. So, this is what I wore this past weekend for my nephew's dedication service. I went through around five or six looks before deciding on this one. Well, actually this was the only one that appeared even half way decent and that I felt comfortable in. I've realized if I don't feel comfortable in an ensemble I won't dare step out of the house in it. No matter how crazy it may be, if I feel comfortable in it and it's becoming, I would much rather wear the flamboyant crazed maniac look than something that looks "Normal" but I hate. Oh wait that pretty much sums up my style.

Bought the blouse thrifted about a month ago but I may have to retire it, since it's polyester and makes me feel like a sweaty girl. The thing is stupid cute though!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas holiday. I surely did since I did absolutely NOTHING. Well, unless you count watching tv, painting my nails, or eating nonstop SOMETHING. The family celebrated Christmas on Sunday with a Sunday Brunch, it was great food, family, and fun.

So Yeah, hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and received everything you wanted material, emotional, and spiritual! Enjoy the pics......

2impromptu adjective : not prepared ahead of time : made or done without preparation

Here I am! I've been going through a roller coaster of emotions lately which I know are necessary for me to move to the next level in my journey, but that fact does not ease the adverse effects I've been experiencing. Everything I've experienced, good and bad, has brought me to this point in my life. This brings me to the word "impromptu", which came up this weekend after an Afternoon tea I attended, and it's been stuck in my head ever since. "Not prepared ahead of time"..."Made or done without preparation", you would think Improvisation would not be a characteristic anyone would aspire to attain besides maybe an actor or performer but I'm not "Anyone".

You see some things I experienced made me afraid to not be in total control of every situation in my life. A life with "total control" is one boring and scary life. No fun only fear. That's where I was for quite some time. This is why "I" aspire for a life of improvisation. This doesn't mean I make no plans or goals, it just means I'd like to get to the point where I get out of my head and into my heart. This is a struggle but I think I'm almost there. I'm on the cusp, the last leg, the final inning of my race to total freedom.

Now to the fun part!
Above is what I wore to a tea this past weekend hosted by one of my dear friends Teknicolure (click the link & check out her blog). I had too much fun, a given, as I always do whenever us girls get together. I hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend.

Tattered Simplicity

I have been feeling very inspired as of late but inspiration does not always bring motivation, therefore the blog has been a bit neglected. So instead of spending my entire post harping on the fact that I haven't been posting to the blog, let's admire the above photo instead.

I'm not sure what it is about "Classic" american women's wear brands that ruffles my feathers, maybe the fact that anything vintage I gravitate towards or the fact that I've always felt I have an old soul. Whatever the reason these brands excite me. I love an old Liz Claiborne purse (and have a couple in my collection), or an Anne Klein oversized blazer, or even a pair of 90's Calvin Klein pumps, whatever the vintage American classic, it's usually a "Love" in my eyes!

Something about the wear of the leather or the tattered edges of the label makes me feel like our overly technologically advanced universe is overrated and what it comes down to is the simplicity in life. The craftsmanship of the simple things is what brings balance to an otherwise fast-paced existence.

a : a person given to often expedient or facile change in ideas or character
b : one that is subject to quick or frequent change especially in appearance
Not sure why the word "Chameleon" came to me last night but I found this definition interesting nonetheless.

Enjoy the photos! Oh and Happy New Year to you all.

Attended a wedding this evening and I needed to dress up a bit but I didn't feel like wearing a dress or skirt so I pulled out these pants that I picked up from a local thrift shop about a year ago. I remember the day I purchased them, since it is so rare to find a size 2 especially in pants and that are long enough for me, I was super excited but more so excited about the price (can you believe they were $1 or $2 bucks). Anyhoo, A few pics to start off your Sunday morning.

Color Pop

So here is what I wore yesterday. I have been trying to figure out how to wear this bright fish necklace for the longest but every time I put it on something looked off.  Yesterday I was determined to figure it out and this was what I came up with. I pulled this bright orange bag out from an old suitcase full of purses I have from over the years (I keep certain purses just for rainy days or when I want to mix it up or am tired of the bags I have on rotation at a particular time).  This was the day to pull this one out and with the sunny weather we've been having in Cali this week, it was inevitable to add this "Bright" just to kill the monotony of winter clothes I had been wearing.

Hope this inspires you to mix it up a bit and add a "Color Pop" to your day and everyone's around you. Life is full of unexpected changes. Be the unexpected!
