Trim the Dead Ends

Got a new Hair-do, finally. Well it's really just a cut I got about three weeks ago. I just got around to posting the picture, but I'm so happy I got rid of those dead ends. It's crazy how my life has followed the same pattern. I'm doing a growth plan with my hairdresser to see how quickly my hair will grow by just trimming off the dead ends every six weeks. Imagine how far along we would be in life concerning our goals and progress if we would just trim off the dead ends every six weeks. Reevaluate what's holding us back whether it be people, fears, or ourselves. Just a little food for thought.

In other news, I finally got a cell phone on Black Friday. It's amazing to some that I'm still breathing, I mean no cell phone for more than six months...*Blank Stare* I've been doing a lot of reading reviews online on various products and buying products as well. I also have very specific tastes in almost everything I like from movies to shampoo, soooo I figured I'd start doing video blogs on specific topics from movies to politics to music to makeup & fashion to food and so on and so forth. Youtube will be my avenue for delivering these vids. Not sure when I will begin but it will be soon. Thank you for reading...LOVE

Just me...

So, it's been a while, and I have been having a fairly decent summer thus far. Hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July weekend. Sorry I have been neglecting the blog but I have been bitten by the obsession bug yet again. So, I've been really bored with my hair. I searched youtube to find some cute natural styles (meaning no heat, no starightening). I found one style which I've been doing but I needed more. I found a channel I liked and have been watching all the vids like crazy. Then I stumbled upon people using virgin coconut oil on their hair as a moisturizer and shine agent. I heard it's use on hair is popular in East Indian culture as well. The search was on, for unrefined extra virgin coconut oil! I went to a few Indian markets which was interesting to say the least. I settled on buying it at my local vitamin specialty shop. I'm excited to try it out. I also realized I've purchased two other coconut products within the last month, whether they contain coconut extracts or are coconut scented. Just goes to show when I do things, anything, I go hard. I think I have an obsessive personality which is not always a bad thing, as long as the obsessions are not leading me to destruction.

Anyways, above are my current inspirations. Just random things I found which I like.

Au Naturale

So I decided to do a post sans makeup (not that I even wear a lot of it), sans lip gloss, sans illusions. I had an interesting night to say the least, which started out with a semi-breakdown. I have a lot of final projects that must be completed in order to finish up my last semesterand graduate. Well, let's just say the words just were not coming. I felt like there was a brick wall between my brain and comprehension. It felt like there was so much activity going on in my head but none of it would materialize into a single thought. I've never felt that in my life. I'm so close to a major milestone in my life yet it felt almost as if I were afraid of success, doing something right. Wow, what a meaningful statement. We never expect to be afraid of being successful but it is very scary when you've felt like nothing done by you would ever be good enough. Will I be able to live up to their expectations, God's Expectations, my expectations. So, this is me, the real me no makeup, no concealer, nothing false. Flawed yet flawless, is me. Our flaws make us who we are. Why cover them with concealer? We are concealing ourselves. It's so funny how we go through trials so that we know exactly what we have. Friends, family, Our Savior, put in our lives to show us that it's not about us. It's about who we can help while doing his work in the process. Your will be done! The Others

Aliens, UFO's, Mars...These are all terms we've heard and formed our own opinions about, whether they be positive or negative. Are they real, Why not? Hey if it helps people sleep at night, I say, "Be my guest". I think people put these labels on the things in which they are afraid. Most times the fear of oneself and their own "True" identity. I always say to people, "If I dressed how I really wanted to dress people would think I was crazy". Why are our real selves viewed as weird or crazy when we are all the same. What is weird? I don't know why aliens and the paranormal has recently sparked my interest. It probably has something to do with the Humanities class I'm taking this semester, "Encountering the Other". This week's lecture had a lot to do with the "Other" in the form of aliens. I also watched the movie "Signs" over the weekend, which I hadn't watched in a while. Ok, enough of the deep supernatural mumbo jumbo...lol! Here's some of the space-aged items I found and fell in love with....Enjoy!

Accessories to Cuteness!

I've got my AMMO, my bulletproof, and my deadly five inch heels. I'm ready to "Kill the Streets", with these accessories to my upcoming Fall looks. These are my accessories to cuteness. I love, love, love these accessories from Alexander McQueen, Chloe, and Marc Jacobs to name a few. My faves are the booties with the ties on the back from McQueen and the sweet clutch and bag from Marc Jacobs. I don't yet know what my fall wardrobe will consist of but I do know I adore accessories, especially shoes, so get ready for many more posts like this one. I also have a load of thrift store finds which I want to debut to you all. Be on the look out for some funky dresses, sweaters, and jackets. I also have a current fascination with HATS. Get Ready!

I'm so sorry posts have become few and far between. I've had so much going on between starting school, my last semester by the way woo hoo, and getting the personal shopper/styling project underway, I've had little time to dedicate to managing the blog. Hard + Soft = Balance

Here's my current inspiration board. I really love the contrast in these looks. The thigh high boots with frilly dresses. I love irony in anything, so if it's included in what you wear it kind of softens the blow. Wouldn't want to wear the thigh highs, a motorcycle jacket, and chains and cuffs; balance is key. On the other hand the leather boots with pink or with a dress balances out your look right?....RIGHT!

Kate Moss is famous for her impeccable style. She has mastered the hard versus soft look. It's not easy for most to pull off a dainty summer dress with muddy Dr. Martens, though I have seen her do it very tastefully. And sorry, I couldn't pass up the British flag purse even with the skull atop the bag. Forgive me! Enjoy....Smooches

All Grown Up!

Wow, is all I have to say about the Fall '08 ready-to-wear collections. There was so much variety, and color, and just WOW! I had not taken an in depth look at the collections even though they deputed in shows since the early spring. A lot of the collections inspired me for this coming autumn to be a GROWN UP. I did recently have a birthday and I am getting pretty up there in age to be wearing jeans, t-shirts, and flip flops all the time. Well maybe I'm exaggerating just a little. I don't wear those things all the time, just everyday except Sundays and even sometimes on Sundays I end up wearing jeans. I attend one of those churches where everyone just wears whatever feels comfortable. No really, I have been trying to diversify my wardrobe this summer by showing off my legs with short skirts and a couple dainty dresses. I am trying to gradually weed myself off of those things which remind me of my youth, yet still keep a fun and young element in my dressing. It doesn't help that I appear to be not a day over sixteen. Yes I know it's so so sad. Anyways, I'm so excited for the Fall that I cannot contain myself. Above are a couple things I pulled, from miscellaneous places, that grabbed my attention. Many of the complete looks are straight off the runway from the Maurizio Pecararo show. I love these little booties I pulled but am kind of skeptical about wearing them with skirts and dresses due to a condition I'm suffering from called "Chickenleg syndrome". No, I've actually learned to love my legs. I just have to be very careful about the silhouettes to which I choose to indulge. So hurry up September so I can trade my tank tops for fur coats....MooHooHooHaaHaaHaa!
